Who? Chris, senior History and English double major
    Where? Glassboro
What does he/she do? Used to bike to school everyday, now walks to school everyday. It’s over a 2 mile round trip.
Why does he/she do it? Has a car but doesn’t have a license. He’s 22.
It’s an interesting story because…. He’s about to graduate college and doesn’t drive to school. He’s also been hit on his way to class. He’s also an interesting character and person to speak to.

  2. Mike Scrabonia says:

My story will be on one or two Rowan students who enjoy “longboarding” around campus as a means of transportation and recreation. They enjoy the speed and tricks they are able to perform while riding. It’s an interesting story because we all see them around campus, but we may never pay attention or recognize the skill that goes into riding this huge skateboards. Also, there are numerous tricks that would look excellent as photographs.

  3. Rachel Bellamy says:

Who? Chris, senior History and English double major

Why does he/she do it? Has a car but doesn’t have a license. He’s 22.
It’s an interesting story because…. He’s about to graduate college and doesn’t drive to school. He’s also been hit on his way to class. He’s also an interesting character and person to speak to.

  4. Team Waldy says:

    Who- Louis bounicore
    Where- Rowan University
    What- Fitness Junky!
Why- He doesn’t feel complete unless he works out every few hours
Interesting- A person should not be working out as much as he does. He brings out the true meaning of wanting to become an alpha male.

  5. tesaryder says:

    Who? Michele Stanton
Where? Manahawkin, NJ (Ocean County Area)
What does he/she do? She has a painted car that has been painted with different things for over 2 years. She is an extreme fan of the band Escape the Fate. From her car to the back piece tattoo that she got over the summer.
Why does he/she do it? Her personal and emotional connection with their music has given her strength to stand up and be herself.
It’s an interesting story because…. She has been getting notice from people in the area about her car paint…and now her tattoo. And the back story is touching and uplifting.

  6. Lauren says:

    Who: Kristen

    Where: Seaside Heights

What: Extreme philanthropist. Does polar bear plunge, marathon, warrior dash

    Why: Not really sure why

It’s an interesting story because she targets her philanthropic efforts towards athletic and out of the ordinary fundraising events.

  7. Shannon says:

Who? Todd Woodward, president of the Gloucester County Homebrewers Club
Where? His home in Gloucester County
He is an avid homebrewer and president of the hombrewing club which meets monthly to share their brews.
He does it because he loves it.
It’s an interesting story because he’s willing to not only open his home and brew for me while we talk and take photos, but he’s willing to tell me about everything they do.

And let me drink some beer. (chicka yeah)

  8. Team Waldy says:

    Louis Bounocore

  9. Krista says:

For my story, I plan on interviewing a South Jersey Derby Girl. I plan on figuring out why they enjoy this rough and tumble sport, how they got into the sport, and their proudest moment on the team.
They are located in Mullica Hill
Roller derby is a aggresive sport, that is mainly for women. This story is intersting because I feel as if these women have their own culture in a way. Many of these women are adults, so the difference between their average life and their derby life may shock people. The sport in general is extreme.

  10. Jenn says:

Who: Group of gamers that play the game League of Legends (computer game)
    Where: South Jersey
What do they do: Meet at the same place and play the game and play the game for hours
Why do they do it: Going to find out in the interview
It’s interesting because: I think it’s a bit extreme to play the same game everyday for hours on end, and I feel it will interesting to compare the game to others that have captured the eye of other gamers. Also, it’s interesting to find out what about this game makes it possible for people to get into.

  11. AUSTIN says:

I’m doing my project on extreme Eagles fan Eric Blanchard from Woodbury, NJ. He spends large amounts of money and plans his day around their games. He does it because he’s been an Eagles fan since he was young and has superstitions that he believes will help them win. It’s an interesting story because he not only spends a majority of his money while still in college and working for nearly minimum wage, but also because he refuses to talk to his friends and family during Eagles games. He has also gotten into fights with his parents and girlfriend about his habits when it comes to the Eagles.

  12. Angela Weeks says:

I’m doing my story on Megan Merkling, a 26-year-old stay-at-home from Maple Shade, NJ. She is a collage-artist who collects and uses vintage, antique and out-dated items of history to create story-collages on pieces of wood, old closet shelves and canvas. Each piece is layered with old pattern prints from old books or music sheets and incorporates the subjects that she is most passionate about such as items from science-fiction, fantasy, tarot cards, astrology, witchcraft, western history, fashion and music. Her motivation to do it is to use her time creating art that is non-traditional and unique. Likewise, it’s her way of expressing her knowledge and passion about these subjects into a physical story. It’s interesting because it is a never-before-seen form of art that includes items from hundreds of years ago and that takes her hours and hours to make; and also because they are so meaningful to her that she has turned down offers from people who would pay hundreds of dollars to buy one.

  13. AUSTIN says:

Why does he not get his license?

  14. Lauren says:

maybe emphasis why they choose to longboard instead or walk/bike/skateboard,

  15. Anonymous says:

What kinds of tricks can you do on a longboard? I’ve heard of tricks on a skateboard, but not a longboard.

  16. Jenn says:

I’d really like to see a picture of him walking to school. Does he know how to drive or does he just not have a license?

  17. Anonymous says:

How is this extreme? Have you found a couple of “extreme” people already? Good main idea.

  18. Shannon says:

Why doesn’t he have a license? I think that conflict needs to be addressed in the story foremost–explaining why the walking is so extreme.

  19. Anonymous says:

What else does he do outside of working out- protein shakes, etc.? What has the feedback been from people that he’s been hitting on?

  20. Anonymous says:

Does he have legitimate reasons as to why he has to walk to school to make it something “extreme” besides the fact that he lost his license? Would he still do it even if he did have a license? Does he even walk in the winter and how many miles total does he walk per week?

  21. Lauren says:

try to figure out when he began working out and why.. was he beat up once and decided that he never wanted that to happen again so he started working out.. i feel the why would be a good part to the story and then the amount he works out will support it

  22. AUSTIN says:

How did they get into longboarding?

  23. Anonymous says:

This is sort of boring to me. No offense, but I do not really care if this guy does not have his license, I do not feel like that is the interesting part.
    I would focus on
    1. does he walk to work?
    2. all weather?
    3. does he do marathons?
    4. is he healthy?

  24. Anonymous says:

How is this extreme? I used to have to walk to school in high school everyday, and it was about a two mile round trip. It’s interesting that he has a car, but no license. Who does that nowadays? How would you get interesting pictures? Does he do anything wacky while walks?

  25. Anonymous says:

How much money has she spent on the car and the tattoo paint?

  26. Anonymous says:

Strong idea. It will be cool to know how he gets to his job and what he is doing about future jobs.

  27. Anonymous says:

I have also always wondered about the long-boarders and give them a lot of credit for doing so. I’d like to know how they handle carrying their schoolbooks and stuff.

  28. AUSTIN says:

Why does he feel like he needs to work out everyday?

  29. Anonymous says:

Do they do tricks? Do you know someone that knows the history of longboarding or just some kid who has one?

  30. Anonymous says:

What’s her athletic history? Was she on a sports team beforehand?

  31. Lauren says:

try to get specifics lie how much he brew each day/week/month.. if it’s a crazy high number that could be really interesting

  32. Shannon says:

Ask them why they got into it and if it’s an everyday activity outside of school and where it takes place–that may be the unique angle you need their daily activity doesn’t stop because of location.

Maybe get into distance, what’s the longest distance they’ve boarded?

  33. Anonymous says:

I have a friend who can flip cars, can louis do anything crazy like this?

  34. Jenn says:

You could find out why he needs to work out every few hours. Also, what else does he do to keep in shape?

  35. Anonymous says:

Does he fix his class schedule around working out? That would be nuts if he can’t graduate on time because he spends more time in the gym then in class.

  36. Anonymous says:

I don’t understand the extreme or even the passion behind this. Do they longboard back home? To Taco Bell? What makes them worthy of this newspage? Do they longboard just to longboard or do they longboard only to class? What puts them out there as different people compared to us ground walkers or normal skateboarders?

  37. AUSTIN says:

What types of things does she paint on the car, and what is their personal significance?

  38. Anonymous says:

Is it possible to meet as a homebrewer club every month and not get plastered? (that’ll happen at a wine tasting if you don’t watch yourself)

  39. Jenn says:

What about Escape the Fate’s music does she have a personal and emotional connection with?

  40. Anonymous says:

just a tip, if you havent already contacted them deff do it soon. I tried to do a story on them last year and they weren’t great with getting back to me. also, some one in olj2 did it last yr for a vid project.. maybe watch that to see what you like and don’t like for better ideas

  41. Anonymous says:

I want to know the reasons behind his “fitness-junkiness.” What is his “ultimate goal” of doing it all the time?

  42. Anonymous says:

Does she have a group of friends that she does it with?

  43. Who: Kyle McGill
Where: @ his house, @ the studio, while playing, while writing
Why: Because he is extreme at his music.
It’s an interesting story because Kyle, a south Jersey native, has brought his unique infusion of reggae/alternative-rock all over America and has many stories to tell!

  44. Anonymous says:

This sounds exciting to me, since I do not really enjoy escape the fate. I would just say when you interview her, make sure she is talking sense as compared to just brain washed obsession

  45. AUSTIN says:

Why did she get into all of these philanthropic activities? Is there a backstory to why she does it?

  46. Shannon says:

True meaning of alpha male or male eating disorder? I think the darkness in this subject needs to be recognized, that is not healthy. There may be something deeper here, but good idea.

  47. Anonymous says:

What’s the worst injury they’ve gotten in the game?

  48. Anonymous says:

maybe ask why they prefer playing the game opposed to living their life. do they relate to the game character?

  49. Anonymous says:

The car-painting part is REALLY interesting. You should focus on that the most.

  50. Anonymous says:

    how much has she raised
is she a small girl/big girl
do her events personally effect anyone?

  51. Anonymous says:

Has he ever thought or have people in the group ever thought of marketing their brews? Bottling it and all that?

  52. Nice pick! It’d be interesting to get an inside look into brewing here in NJ! I’m siked to see how this turns out!

  53. AUSTIN says:

Why did he pick this as his hobby instead of running, or cycling, ect.?

  54. Anonymous says:

Im not too sure how this is extreme, its interesting, but I would not say extreme. Does he have extreme flavors? Does he do tricks?

  55. Shannon says:

I think the photos would be great. Is there any way you can catch her at a time where she will be updating her car, or getting a new tattoo? Both would be great for photos and add to the already interesting story. I think why she really got into them–what bad event she experienced and led to her loving the band–got her into all of this.

  56. Anonymous says:

How old are they? If they are adults, how has it affected their careers?

  57. Jenn says:

What other things to they do that may be the opposite of roller derby, like for example, they may do roller derby, but do they like to knit as well? Or something along those lines.

  58. Anonymous says:

Philanthropy makes me think of a “love for humanity.” I would like to know…Why does she have that “philanthropic nature” and how does each activity relate to it? Cool idea.

  59. Good stuff! This kind of story lends itself to many good images and anecdotes. I’m interested to see what you come up with!

  60. Anonymous says:

What’s the back story? What happened that she had to get herself back up on her feet? What kind of action are you going to show in the pictures? How is she an extreme fan of the band/how did she become a fan? What does she have painted on her car from the past two years? does she drive this car?

  61. AUSTIN says:

Has she ever been injured because of roller derby?

  62. Anonymous says:

Is there a particular girl that you have in mind because of the things that she has accomplished? What are the family responses to these women being in such a different sport?

  63. Shannon says:

I think it’s a lovely idea, find out if she ever looks for new ones and if the charities ever effects anyone she knows.

  64. Anonymous says:

does she sell her stuff or is it for her personal achievements. maybe ask how her family and friends feel about her art and if their supportive or not

  65. Jenn says:

Why does he behave the way he does when it comes to the Eagles? How does his behavior and habits affect his relationships and even education?

  66. Anonymous says:

Cool and interesting! I think this is extreme because I am always interested in people who I hear brew their own beers. I don’t have much more to ask considering the topic itself is extreme.

  67. AUSTIN says:

Do they have any other hobbies? Why gaming?

  68. Shannon says:

haha been there, I did a wine blog last semester. You can taste without getting drunk (you need to taste it and spit it out)

  69. Anonymous says:

How many hours? Does it compromise their day to day life? If they “practice” long enough can it be a career for them playing for money?

  70. Anonymous says:

I never hear much about roller derby so it sounds good to me.

  71. Anonymous says:

What does he do when football isn’t in the height of the season?

  72. Anonymous says:

    1. Do they do any other games?
    2. Can you practice?
    3. competetions?

  73. Extreme commuter? Try to get lots of pictures of him while walking. Ask around town to see if any of the locals see him walking, like in the soundslide we watched in class.

  74. AUSTIN says:

How does her family feel about her creating the art and then refusing to sell it?

  75. Anonymous says:

FInd out what sacrifices (social sacrifices, probably) they have made just to tend to the game.

  76. Jenn says:

Why specifically does her art mean so much to her that she turns down people’s offers to buy her work?

  77. Anonymous says:

    “This sounds AWESOME!”
What type of pictures would you get for this project? Are you attending any plunges/marathons/warrior dashes? If so what would you do to make this a great article for the page? How does she train? What kind of athletic and out of the ordinary fundraising events? What is the last thing you want to do before you die?

  78. Anonymous says:

Since the season is over it would be really interesting to know what his reaction was during the game that got the Eagles dropped out. And if he broke anything….

  79. Shannon says:

It’s definitely interesting and really competitive! I would love to see where this goes and how it turns out. Find out how the club started, where they practice etc

  80. Anonymous says:

What does she do with all of the art pieces she makes if she doesn’t sell them?

  81. Anonymous says:

Do his rituals help him win, what are they
Where did his obession come from

  82. Nice! This is true, I see them everywhere but never ask why. Make sure you get into the reason he started skating, not just a means of transportation.

  83. AUSTIN says:

Does he play any shows? Make any money?

  84. Anonymous says:

You have to make sure that his kind of music is unique, otherwise it’s just another musician story

  85. Anonymous says:

Is he one of those guys who refers to the Eagles as “we” as if he’s on the team, because I think that’s extreme and also extreme(ly annoying)!

  86. Anonymous says:

How much of a living does she make seeing that she is a stay-at-home artist? Is she able to hold a job with a steady income that can compensate when she turns offers down?

  87. Jenn says:

I really like this idea. What else does he do other than brew beer?

  88. Anonymous says:

Does not selling her work, hold her back–rent, insurance, etc

  89. Jenn says:

How is her athletic history? How does she train for these events?

  90. Anonymous says:

What makes him different from every other kid with garage band

  91. Shannon says:

It’s definitely extreme. I wonder if it has to do with any social conflict. If this group of individuals were outcasts in high school or other groups of people and this is their new way of socializing. interesting.

  92. Anonymous says:

How did he get into homebrewing? Where does he get his supplies or is everything homemade? When did he start homebrewing? What kind of interesting photos can you take? How is this extreme? I used to know people who homebrewed, so it’s not really a big deal to me. What’s the “so what” factor for this story? Does he enter competitions? How often does he make a new beer? Does he brew anything else?

  93. Anonymous says:

You should mention how he plays at all of these open mic nights at bars and then somehow suddenly gets paid gigs there.

  94. Jenn says:

What about skating made them enjoy it so much that they took it to school with them?

  95. Any piece on Jobert’s old beau is something I’m willing to subject myself to. This should be fun.

  96. Anonymous says:

Has he been on any major tours? How old is he and what makes him an “extreme” recording artist?

  97. Shannon says:

Is this her way of making an income? how did she get into this?

  98. Shannon says:

Where does he play? Can you catch a show? Seems really cool, and unique.

  99. Jenn says:

Does he sell his music? Where exactly in America is he a big his. What are his stories?

  100. Anonymous says:

Do you think she has Amazon blood in her? Is she the best on her team? Would anyone be able to do this sport or do you have to be specially trained? How does she train for this? Are you getting outside voice for this? Are you doing the one person or the team or even the league?

  101. Anonymous says:

This sounds good. He is without a doubt a fanatic. How are you going to get pictures during the off season? Is he paying for school? Is he a part time student? Are you going to talk to close friends/family? What makes him better than the other Philly fanatics?

  102. Anonymous says:

    Who: Ja’ron Morgan
    Where: Rowan
