How to Turn in Your Final Project

1. Make sure you read the guidelines and grading criteria.

2. Bring your headline, teaser, summary and article (if you are writing one) printed out with you to class on Tues, Dec. 13. You will edit, proofread, and revise them in class.

3. Make sure your multimedia is organized and formatted to the specifications below.

When turning in your final project, create a folder and put all of your media elements in it. Name your folder with your Last Name and one word that describes subject and one word that describes the primary format. For example: BerkeySquareDanceVideo

Follow the guidelines below for how to save and submit each media element. Proper formatting and naming is part of your grade.

All stories must have a thumbnail for the website homepage and a headline, a two sentence teaser for the homepage, and a summary paragraph for the story page.

Required:

Thumbnail
-Cropped and resized to 675 X 400
-72 ppi
-Saved as .jpg, high quality
-Saved as LastNameSubjectThumb.docx (example: BerkeySquareDanceThumb.jpg)
-Follow these instructions for resizing and saving images

Headline, Homepage Teaser and Story Summary
-Headline – Descriptive, compelling, and uses key words
-Two sentence teaser for the homepage. This should introduce your story and lure reader in.
-Byline (ie By Mark Berkey-Gerard)
-If you do not have an article, you need one paragraph that answers the 5 Ws and summarizes the story presented in the multimedia. It must begin with the City or Township in all caps and hyphen to start first line of text (i.e., HAMILTON – Bob Jones, the blueberry farmer…”)
-Saved as a word doc as LastNameSubjectTeaser.docx (i.e.,BerkeySquareDanceTeaser.docx)

Format Options:

Text article (Maximum 1,000 words)
-Headline
-Two sentence teaser
-Byline
-City or Township in all caps and hyphen to start first line of text (i.e., HAMILTON – Bob Jones, the blueberry farmer…”)
-Hyperlinks embedded in word doc
-Saved as LastNameSubjectText.docx (example: BerkeySquareDanceText.docx)

Photos for text articles (Maximum 3 photos)
-Cropped and resized to approximately 675 X 400
-Resolution 72 ppi
-Saved as .jpg, high quality
-Saved as LastNameSubjectPhoto.jpg and number if more than one
(i.e., BerkeySquareDancePhoto1.jpg, BerkeySquareDancePhoto2.jpg)
-Follow these instructions for resizing and saving images

Photo Essays (A series of at least 5 photos)
-Cropped and resized to approximately 675 X 400
-Resolution 72 ppi
-Saved as .jpg, high quality
-Name them so they are in order that you want them displayed (i.e., BerkeySquareDancePhoto1.jpg, BerkeySquareDancePhoto2.jpg)
-Put them in a folder saved as LastNameSubjectPhotoEssay (i.e., BerkeySquareDancePhotoEssay)
-Follow these instructions for resizing and saving images

Audio (Maximum 90 sec.)
-.mp3, high quality or spoken word
-Saved as LastNameSubjectAudio.mp3 (i.e.,BerkeySquareDanceAudio.mp3)

Audio Slide Show (Maximum 2:30)
-Submit your entire Soundslides file folder
-Saved as LastNameSubjectAudioSlideShow (i.e., BerkeySquareDanceAudioSlideShow)
-Follow these instructions for formatting your audio slide show

Video (Maximum 2:30)
-Large Size  960 X 540, .m4v
-Saved as LastNameSubjectVideo.m4v (i.e., BerkeySquareDanceVideo.m4v)
-Follow these instructions for formatting your video
