Deadlines:
Each one must be met for full credit.

Thurs, April 21 – Submit rough draft and raw multimedia files (audio, photo, video, etc).

Thurs, April 28 – Final project due

Goal: To present a compelling, professional level web feature on the NJ symbols theme.

The story should reveal something unique about the history, character, or culture of New Jersey. For this assignment, you can begin with an official — or an unofficial — symbol. You are looking for something that is “iconic,” which means “a person or thing regarded as a representative symbol.” For example, a profile of a Bon Jovi cover band would be an acceptable subject.

You are looking for a story with characters, action, and motivation. You should be able to answer the question: Why this story? Why this story now?

You pick the media elements based on the story and what are the most compelling ways to present your story. You can use text, photos, audio, photo essay, audio slide show, video, map, timeline, or graphics.

Your final feature should demonstrate what you have learns and skills you have gained in Online Journalism 1 and 2.

Basic requirements:
-All projects must include a word doc with compelling headline that uses key words, a teaser, and credits.

-Every story must have one photo to use as a thumbnail for the web site. The thumbnail must be sized to 320 X 320.

-Audio slide shows (publish_to_web folder with proper settings)

-Video (.m4v “Large 960 X 540” format)

-If video or audio slide show, no longer than 2:30 in length.

-Quality of editing and presentation
-Appropriate IDs of people: NAME, AGE, LOCATION
-Strong beginning.
-Strong ending.
