Turning In Final Project

Due, Thurs, Dec 9 at the end of class. Worth 25 points – Five points (25 percent) off for late work.

Files must be submitted in proper format:

1. Audio (.mp3) and photos (at least 5 photos)

One Folder called “YourNameFinalAudio” that includes:

  • 1:30 audio (.mp3, “high quality”, saved as YourNameFinalAudio.mp3)
  • A folder with at least 5 photos (max width 950 ppi, high quality, .jpg, saved as YourNameFinalPhotoEssay)
  • Your thumbnail image (saved as YourNameFinalThumb.jpg)
  • A Word document with headline, location, two-three sentence teaser, and appropriate captions for each photo, ie Photo #1: Subject full name, location, maximum two sentence description or quote. Make sure caption does not repeat information in the photo. Saved as YourNameFinalTeaser.docx

2. Audio Slide Show

One Folder called “YourNameFinalAudioSlide” that includes:

  • Publish_to_web folder. Make sure you follow these instructions for settings and exporting
  • 2 minutes max (unless I tell you otherwise)
  • photos timed approx 1 photo for every 5 seconds of audio, ie 90 sec = 18 photos.
  • Your thumbnail image (saved as YourNameFinalThumb.jpg)
  • A Word document with headline, location, two-three sentence teaser, and proper credits. Saved as YourNameFinalTeaser.docx.

3. Video

One Folder called “YourNameFinalVideo” that includes:

  • Video (.m4v “Large 960 X 540” and saved as YourNameVideo.m4v)
  • 2:30 max (unless I tell you otherwise)
  • Use Title Card for story headline and your name(s). Use Lower Thirds option, black background, and flush your text to the left.
  • Use the “Transparent Black” Lower Thirds to introduce people. Those lower thirds should be centered. Make sure you have full names (first and last), occupation, and location.
  • • Thumbnail image from the video. See these instructions for capturing a still image from video file. (saved as YourNameFinalThumb.jpg)
  • Word document with headline, location, two-three sentence teaser, and credits.

GRADING CRITERIA:
•    Compelling multimedia profile of person or transportation story
•    Fits theme of New Jersey “Roads and Rails”
•    Appropriate IDs of people: Name, age, location, occupation.
•    Quality of reporting (Did you go somewhere, meet someone, and put in effort to find a good story?)
•    Quality of audio (Good sound quality/smooth editing)
•    Quality of visuals (Focus, framing, variety of shots)
•    Quality of editing (Pacing, edits, transitions)
•    Strong beginning: visual and audio
•    Strong ending: visual and audio
•    Is there an anecdote?
•    Is there is a moment of reflection?
•    Is there a story?
•    Word document with headline, teaser and proper credits
•    Files submitted in proper format and names
